Description

Cazcanes No. 9 Rosa Blanco is a high-proof blanco tequila from Jalisco, Mexico. It starts with hand-selected Blue Weber agave. After distilling, it rests for 31 days in first-fill French oak casks. Those casks once held Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

That short rest gives the tequila its soft rosy tint and a light wine touch. It still counts as a blanco, because it spends less than 60 days in wood. A low-pressure autoclave cooks the agave, and a roller mill crushes it. It is fermented without fibers, cut with natural spring water, and distilled twice. The still is a stainless pot with a copper coil, at a family-owned distillery.

On the nose, you find cooked agave, red berries, and a floral, rose-like lift. Black pepper sits underneath. The palate brings more cooked agave, dried red fruit from the Cabernet, soft French oak, and a little vanilla. The finish is long, warm, and peppery.

At 100 proof, it has plenty of punch. Sip it neat or on the rocks, and give it a minute to open. It also turns a margarita or other pink and fruity. Try it with ceviche, grilled shrimp, or a citrus salad.

This bottle suits you if you enjoy and want a blanco with a twist.
