Description
Bushmills Rare Casks 28 Year Old is the debut release in the brand’s annual series, The Rare Casks. Made from Irish barley and distilled in traditional Irish copper pot stills, this triple-distilled single malt spent 11 years in Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks before being married and finished for 17 years in cognac casks. It is non-chill filtered and bottled at cask strength.
The color is golden honey. The aroma is rich and expansive, opening with fresh citrus oil and almonds, then moving into roasted caramel, fresh prunes and warm baking spices drawn from the cognac cask. The palate is long and layered, with dried apricot, orange marmalade and roasted almonds, closing on a warming finish of vanilla and cinnamon.
