An Cuan Garbh — Gaelic for “the rough sea” — is the first release in Bunnahabhain’s Westering Home Collection, a limited 2026 edition named for the traditional Scottish song of homecoming to Islay. Bottled as No. 1 in the series, this 15-year-old single malt comes from the distillery’s remote home on the shores of the Sound of Islay, where the water outside the stillhouse door gives the collection its name.
Fifteen years of maturation bring depth to Bunnahabhain’s signature coastal style: dried fruit and dark toffee layered over roasted nuts and honeyed malt, with the distillery’s hallmark sea-salt edge running through every sip. Gentle oak spice and a briny, warming character carry the whisky to a long, satisfying close that rewards slow drinking.
