Peter and Christina Hall have farmed their beautifully isolated little Sussex plot for half a century, and Hall’s wines are as characterful as the man himself. He is perhaps the country’s finest exponent of sparkling Seyval, though my top mark in a recent tasting went to this Chardonnay and Pinot blend for its savoury mushroom aromas and fresh but bready palate.
