Description
The commercial single barrel category traces back to Blanton’s in 1984. Approaching the end of his career, Master Distiller Elmer T. Lee was asked to build a bourbon of exceptionally high quality. Thinking back to the late 1940s, when he began working under Colonel Albert B. Blanton, president of the distillery until 1952, he chose to honor his mentor’s old tradition by calling the whiskey “Blanton’s Single Barrel”.
Bottled at 53.5% ABV in a 700 ml bottle, the Gold Edition opens with spicy rye and tobacco on the nose, moving into caramel and honey alongside dark fruit and citrus. The palate mirrors that complexity with rye, tobacco and honey, while oak and vanilla carry through an extremely long, harmonious finish.
