Big Smooth Old Vine Zinfandel 2023 reflects Lodi, California, a growing region shaped by warm days, cooling Delta air, and deep loam. The winery’s approach favors bold fruit and softened tannins, with American, French, and Hungarian oak contributing measured vanilla and coconut complexity.
Black plum, dried cherry, and fig lead the producer’s aromatic description, followed by black tea and Tahitian vanilla. On the palate, boysenberry and pomegranate mingle with a restrained pepper note, while juicy fruit and smooth tannins give the wine generous texture, balance, and a satisfyingly composed finish.
