Bearface Wilderness Series 01 Matsutake takes Canadian whisky in an unexpected direction, drawing character from matsutake mushroom at 42.5% ABV. The result keeps the frame of a whisky while folding in earthy, faintly umami notes that run through the palate. Woodland aromas set the tone, followed by whiskey warmth and a finish that stays complex rather than sweet. Bottled at 750 ml, it is aimed at drinkers who look for flavor profiles outside the usual range.
