Description

ArteNOM Selección de 1414 Reposado comes from Destilería El Ranchito, NOM 1414, in Arandas. The town sits in Los Altos, the highlands of Jalisco, where the Vivanco family has grown since at least 1929.

The estate agave roasts in brick ovens for 36 hours. After a wild-yeast fermentation, it is distilled twice in copper pot stills. It then rests about four months in used ex-bourbon barrels with the char scraped out. It is bottled at 41.2% ABV with no additives.

You will find honey, almond and dried herbs on the nose. The palate is savory, with vanilla, a little caramel and sweet agave. Allspice and a mild chile warmth follow. The finish is clean, with a peppery tingle and a quick flash of tropical fruit.

Wine Enthusiast scored it 90 points and put it in its Top 100 Spirits of 2021. The Beverage Testing Institute gave it 90 points and a Gold Medal in 2023.

Sip it neat or over one big ice cube, or mix a bright Margarita. Grilled meats, aged cheese and dark chocolate all work beside it. If you usually reach for lighter, younger , this one will feel richer.
