Description
Arette Classico Blanco is a 100% agave tequila from the Orendain family. They make it at the El Llano distillery in the town of Tequila, Jalisco. The family has made tequila on that spot since the early 1900s, and the Arette brand followed in 1986.
The name comes from Arete, a horse that won show jumping gold at the 1948 London Olympics. The family still works with traditional methods. Their agave is estate grown on the edge of Tequila town and then pressure cooked. After distilling, the spirit rests briefly in stainless steel instead of oak.
Bring the glass up and you notice cooked agave with floral and grassy notes. Hints of fruit, like peach and pear, sit in the background. The palate is clean and lively, with sweet agave, an herbal edge and plenty of black pepper. The finish turns dry and spicy, with pepper lingering at the end.
Sip it neat or on the rocks when you want to taste the agave clearly. It also makes a crisp base for a margarita or a Paloma. Pair it with tacos, ceviche or bright citrus dishes.
This 700ml bottle is bottled at 38% ABV. It is a friendly pick if you are new to blanco and want real agave flavor. Seasoned tequila fans will enjoy its peppery bite too.
