Description
Ardbeg Hypernova is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky bottled at 51% ABV in a 750 ml bottle. It comes from the Ardbeg Distillery, founded in 1815 on the wild southern coast of Islay, where the distillery sits beside a rocky cove.
Ardbeg is regarded by connoisseurs as among the peatiest and smokiest of the Islay malts, and also among the most complex. Alongside that smoke sits a distinct sweetness, a combination long referred to as the peaty paradox. The profile is balanced, with a smooth texture and subtle notes throughout.
Islay, known as the Queen of the Hebrides, supplies soft water, fertile soil and acres of peat, making it a prolific source of distinctive single malts. The distillery’s knotwork and its well-known A come from Celtic heritage, echoing the 8th century Kildalton Cross that stands a few miles north of the site.
