Description
Named for the whirlpool that churns north of Islay, Ardbeg Corryvreckan is a single malt Scotch whisky bottled without chill filtration at 57.1% ABV. The peat arrives in waves, carrying smoke, cracked pepper and a briny maritime spice that stays in balance despite the strength.
On the nose, tarry rope, creosote and linseed oil rise from the glass. The palate turns waxy and dark, with bitter chocolate, warm blackcurrant and muscovado sugar, then plump cherries and earthy pine needles surfacing underneath. A full-bodied, uncompromising 750 ml bottle for drinkers who want their Islay whisky at full intensity.
